Kenya Anglican Men’s Association (KAMA)
KAMA is a department within the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) — the youngest in both the Province of Kenya and the Diocese. Before KAMA, men’s issues were addressed through various associations such as the Fathers Union and Fathers Association. For example, Maseno North Diocese had a Fathers Association, while Mount Kenya South pioneered the Fathers Union in 1985.
These associations each had their own constitutions, which led to a lack of provincial coordination. Between 2000 and 2001, several meetings were held at the provincial level to harmonize the constitutions and establish one unified department under the umbrella of the Kenya Anglican Men’s Association (KAMA). The Provincial Synod officially recognized and blessed KAMA in July 2001.
KAMA was launched in the Diocese of Maseno North in September 2021 with the enrollment of about 80 men by Bishop Emeritus Simon Oketch. Later that year, Archbishop (then Most Rev. Dr. David Kitari) enrolled an additional 142 clergy. Today, the association proudly has over 1,000 active members.
